When she returned to the music world she decided to switch record labels, signing with Elektra/Asylum. After Ain't No Other she took a break from the music world to focus on her organization, Dupe The Moon Productions. She then released Act Like You Know in 1991 and Ain't No Other in 1993, the latter giving her a Grammy award nomination and also featured the gold single Ruffneck. She released her next album, Eyes on This the following year, which featured the #1 single Cha Cha Cha. She released her first album under a record label, Lyte as a Rock, in 1988. It was due to the popularity of her single she got noticed by the First Priority label and signed with them to be her record label. She began her rapping career with her first single, I Cram to Understand U (Sam), which became an underground hit. Lana Michele Moorer was born on Octoin Queens, New York and grew up in Brooklyn.
